Troubleshooting
Label Barcode Not Scanning After Crop? 7 Fixes
· 2 min read
Seven checks
- Use the original PDF. A screenshot or photo of a label is low resolution. Crop the downloaded PDF instead.
- Print at 100% scale. Fit to page or custom scaling stretches bars.
- Set margins to None and paper size to the roll size.
- Raise darkness one step and print a single test.
- Use a fresh roll. Old thermal paper fades and loses contrast.
- Clean the print head if there are white streaks across the bars.
- Read the barcode check result in the tool. A failed page means the crop or the source needs attention.
How the barcode check helps
After cropping, LabelCropKit renders each output page and reads its barcodes back. If a barcode cannot be read on screen, it will not be read on a sticker, so the failed page numbers are listed for you to check before printing.

Frequently asked questions
Why is my thermal printer barcode not scanning properly?
Blurry barcodes usually come from low-resolution screenshots. Upload the original PDF, print at 100% scale with no margins and raise darkness one step.
Does cropping reduce barcode quality?
Not when the label is copied as vector from the source PDF. Quality drops when a screenshot or picture is used.
